A New Kind of Love.

On Monday night, I laid in bed unable to fall asleep. One thought kept mercilessly picking at my brain. Why did God, Maker of the universe, pick us? How is it that a God who is all knowing and all powerful also be all loving? I kept thinking of someone who could be considered a genius, and by genius i mean full on prodigy... and this may be stereotypical of me but typically words that don't come to mind when thinking of highly intelligent people are compassion.. emotional, and loving. Not that they are incapable of these feelings but that they are just not as prone to expressing them. They find a different kind of love in knowledge and the information that they know. But then there's God. The One who knows things about this world and universe that is unfathomable by the human mind. Things we will never be able to comprehend and understand. Why? Simply because He is all knowing and we are not. He knows all the molecules that make up the atmosphere and the cells of a tree. So even though He could be wrapped up in all the sciences of everything, He still chooses us.

But then, while telling my mom about my epiphany she made a valid point. We can't give God these human features. For humans we prioritize the things we love. We aren't capable of loving things in the way God does. And it isn't that God loves the trees and nature and whatever else more or less then us, its just that He doesn't have the same process of loving things the way we do.

 And she was right. But, that wasn't really my point. I agree that God loves His creation but there is one significant difference; through Christ we are given new life. A gift nothing else in this universe has been given.You see He sent His Son to die for us, to save us from our own sins, and give us eternal life. God gives each and every one of us the opportunity to love Him and even better: to be loved by Him. He didn't give the rocks and stars His words. He didn't create the heavens so that one day the volcanoes could be with Him. He gave the human race responsibilities; to take care of His creation and spread the Good News to those lost in darkness.

So the question still remains as to why we were given this ultimate gift? I honestly have no idea. I guess that puts me back at square one.

.:Breathe:.

It's really funny when God reveals himself to us in unique ways. Over the past couple months I have felt really overwhelmed with the typical stresses of everyday life; school, friends, family, the usual. I found myself regularly asking God for relief and ways to handle all of these stresses but nothing seemed to be changing. That prayer eventually became dull to me and I kind of gave up on it. But shortly after, I heard this song, and the words sounded like a message straight from Him to me. The weird part is that the song is secular and has no religious background whatsoever. The actual story behind the song is today's American economy and focuses on the amount of job losses. But that wasn't what I got from the lyrics. "I need you to hear me say. Breathe, just breathe. Take the world off your shoulders, put it on Me." Finally. An answer. God has such incredible ways of bringing us back to Him. When I felt like he wasn't listening, He showed me He was. He sent His one and only Son to die for us that we could "take the world off our shoulders and put it on Him". When I get that overwhelming feeling I tend to turn to things that only give momentary relief. Sometimes I blare music or call a friend to vent. But, in the end its not that, that brings me relief. Venting to God... that's what helps. Asking Him for guidance, getting answers to what it is He wants you to do. This song, Breathe by Ryan Star is my constant reminder that God is alive and constantly at work in my life. He is there listening to me when I have no one else to turn to and even when I don't think He's listening. He finds new ways to amaze me everyday and its something that I have been noticing a lot more lately.

Breath- Ryan Star
she's fine, most of the time
she takes her days with a smile
she moves like dancing in light
spinning around to the sound
sometimes she falls down
breathe, just breathe
take the world off your shoulders
and put it on me
breathe, just breathe
let the life that you lead
be all that you need

she likes New York at night
she dreams of her own in her wake
shine on, pray like the sun
and even the skies turns grey
i need you to hear me say
breathe, just breathe
take the world off your shoulders
and put it on me
breathe, just breathe
let the life that you lead
be all that you need
let go of the fear
let go of the time
let go of the one
to try to put you down
you're gonna be fine
don't hold it inside
go ahead right now
and let it all come round

breathe, just breathe
take the world off your shoulders
and put it on me
breathe, just breathe
let the life that you lead
be all that you need
breathe, just breathe
take the world off your shoulders
and put it on me
breathe, just breathe
let the life that you lead
be all that you need

Jeremiah 29:11
 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
